This year's German Derivatives Day took place in Frankfurt am Main on September 9. Prof. Dr. Timo Busch took part in the panel discussion on the topic of “Sustainable Finance,” in which representatives from industry and academia addressed various aspects of this topic.
What is sustainability? Can sustainability be measured, and are companies that operate sustainably more successful? Prof. Dr. Timo Busch answers these and other questions in an interview. His conclusion: it is very dangerous for companies not to address sustainability. This is because the results of a systematic review of more than 2,000 individual studies are relatively clear. Ninety percent of the studies say that sustainability does not cause harm. On the contrary, the majority of studies conclude that there is a positive correlation between sustainability issues and financial performance.
