Lecture by Amanda Turner Ege on the elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization

As part of the MIBAS course “Sustainable Finance – Impact Investing in Focus,” Amanda Turner Ege, Executive Director of the elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization, shared her expertise on philanthropic impact investing with the students.

On July 7, 2026, students gained practical insight into the work of the elea Foundation, which was founded in 2006 and is based in Zurich. Amanda Turner Ege explained how elea, as an active philanthropic impact investor, supports companies by combining long-term social impact with entrepreneurial approaches. Using key financing instruments for impact ventures — equity, debt, and grants —

she discussed with the students the respective opportunities and challenges, particularly with regard to control, repayment, flexibility, limited budgets, and impact. The session concluded with a discussion of the role of philanthropic capital and the practical implementation of impact investing.
