On February 22 and 23, around 140 participants from politics, academia, and the financial sector met at the Sustainable Finance and Climate Protection (SFCP) "Dialogue Forum 2024" in Frankfurt am Main. The aim of the event was to network the research projects participating in the "Climate Protection and Finance (Klimaschutz und Finanzwirtschaft, KlimFi)" funding program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the framework of the SFCP accompanying project, and to promote exchange and exchange.

Following the welcoming address by Judith Pirscher, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Prof. Dr. Timo Busch moderated a panel discussion on the question "Sustainable Finance in Research and Practice: Where Are We and Where Do We Need to Go?" with representatives of the German Federal Government's Sustainable Finance Advisory Council, the German Accounting Standards Committee, the Deutsche Bundesbank, the German Savings Banks Association, and Deutsche Bank.

While the plenary emphasized that sustainability and sustainable finance have now become mainstream in politics and the financial sector, it also noted that these topics and the associated regulations are not being received positively by all stakeholders. Small and medium-sized banks and companies, as well as consumers, in particular, are dependent on support. This makes impulses from academia all the more important for sustainably anchoring the transformation in the economy and society. With the aim of deriving and communicating recommendations for action for decision-makers in the financial sector, the real economy, politics, and society from the respective project results, the KlimFi projects can make a valuable contribution to this.
