The accompanying project “Sustainable Finance and Climate Protection (SFCP)” of the BMBF funding priority “Climate Protection and Finance (KlimFi)” started with a two-day kick-off conference on February 23 and 24, 2023, at the Spielfeld Digital Hub in Berlin.
After the welcome address on the first day of the event, Prof. Dr. Alexander Bassen introduced the accompanying project and introduced the individual research projects. Prof. Dr. Timo Busch then moderated a panel discussion on "Expectations of civil society, politics, and business regarding research." Among the panelists were representatives of the German Savings Banks Association, the Deutsche Bundesbank, WWF Germany, the German Accounting Standards Committee, and the Sustainable Finance Advisory Board.
On the second day, Prof. Dr. Bassen moderated the organization of various workshops for the members of the KlimFi research projects. The workshops focused on relevant actors such as SMEs and retail investors, as well as cross-cutting topics such as interactions between actors and the financial system and political and legal frameworks.
